India sign Rs 880 crore deal with Israel to buy 16,479 LMG


  • The Ministry of Defence has signed Rs 880 crore deal with Israeli firm named Israel Weapon Industries to buy 16,479 Light Machine Guns (LMG).
  • The contracted Negev 7.62*51 mm LMG is a combat-proven weapon, that is being used by several countries. Due to this deal, It will enhance the lethality and range of a soldier vis-a-vis the presently used weapon.
  • Objective,
    It will boost the confidence of the frontline troops and provide much-needed combat power to the armed forces.
  • Israel Weapon Industries (IWI),
    It was founded in 1933 by the Magen division of the Israel Military Industries Limited. It is one of the top best world's most famous and bestselling military arms manufacturers.
