  • On 18th March 2020, the 219th foundation day of Ordnance Factory has observed across the country. On 18th March 1801, the first Ordnance Factory was established at Cossipore, Calcutta (now Kolkata).
  • The first Ordnance factory is known as the Gun Carriage Agency (now known as Gun & Shell Factory, Cossipore).
  • Ordnance Factory Board (OFB),
    - It is an industrial organization, functioning under the Department of Defence, Government of India.
    - Ordnance Factory Board works in the field of Research, Development, Production, Testing, Marketing, and Logistics.
    - In India around 41-ordnance factories, 9-training institutes, 3-regional marketing centers and 4-regional controllers of safety.
