- Malayalam poet Puthussery Ramachandran Pillai passed away due to age-related illness. He was 91 years.
- He was a member of the Syndicate of Kerala University. Besides, he was also the General Secretary of First World Conference on Malayalam language and Kerala Culture in 1977.
