- On 11th March 2020, the Indian Post Office launched India's first free digital parcel locker facility in Kolkata, West Bengal. The Chief Postmaster of West Bengal Postal Circle, Gautam Bhattacharya has inaugurated the facility.
- The free digital parcel locker facility has been started in 2-post offices of Kolkata city - Nabadiganta and New Town.
- Its Objective,
- Under this facility, The customers will able be to collect their parcel/ consignments from the above-said post office.
- It will involve facilities like Dropping the parcels, Issuing an SMS intimation with an OTP number to the customer.

- This facility is quite popular in European Countries. But, it is the first time that this facility has been started in India.
- This service is so much beneficial for working people, who do not have to receive any parcel at home.
