Maharashtra government implement Happy Hour for autorickshaws


  • Maharashtra government has approved the implementation of Happy Hour for autorickshaws. And, this initiative was recommended by Khatua panel.
  • The Khatua panel is led by retired IAS officer B. C. Khatua and 4 other members.
  • Happy Hour,
    - The resolution states that fares will be slashed by 15% between 12 noon and 4 P.M. But, this decision not to be applicable to local taxis and app-based taxis.
    - According to the panel, this initiative turns lean hours to Happy Hours, especially for Housewives & Senior Citizens.
  • Maharashtra state,
    - Maharashtra state was formed on 1st May 1960. Its boundaries touch with the Arabian Sea to the west, the Indian states of Karnataka and Goa to the south, Telangana to the southeast and Chhattisgarh to the east, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh to the north.
    - In spite of that, It is the World's third-most populous state.
