- Former Governor of Karnataka Hansraj Bhardwaj passed away at Max Hospital in Saket, New Delhi due to heart failure. He was 83 years.
- He was a Senior Leader of the Indian National Congress (INC). He had served as 16th Governor of Karnataka (2009-14), and also served as the 20th Governor of Kerala from 2012 to 2013.

- During his political career, he was served as Member of Rajya Sabha for 5-times from April 1982 to June 2009.
- And, he also served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice from 31st December 1984 to November 1989.
