Malawian theologian and politician Lazarus Chakwera has been elected as the 6th President of Malawi. He defeated his opponent Peter Mutharika with the majority vote of 58.57%. Lazarus Chakwera has been a leader of the Malawi Congress Party since 2013 and previously Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
