- Every year on 26th June International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is celebrated through the world. It is an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

- The theme for the 2020 year is "Better Knowledge for Better Care".
- Highlights,
- The day 26th June is also to commemorate Lin Zexu dismantling of the opium trade in Human, Guangdong, ending on 25th June 1839, just before the First Opium War in China.
- The observance was instituted by UN General Assembly Resolution 42/112 of 7th December 1987.
