Nobel Prize awardee Amartya Sen won 2020 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade


  • Nobel Prize awardee Amartya Sen won the prestigious 2020 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade for his contribution to global justice issues, social inequality in education, and healthcare. Amartya Sen will be awarded the Peace Prize on 18th October 2020 in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • German Book Trade Award,
    - It is an international peace prize awarded annually by the Borsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, an association of German book publishers and booksellers, which runs the Frankfurt Book Fair.
    - The award ceremony is held in the Paulskirche in Frankfurt and the awardee receives the €25,000. This award had been awarded from 1950.
  • Amartya Sen,
    - Amartya Kumar Sen is an Indian economist and philosopher, born on 3rd November 1933 in Shantiniketan, West Bengal. In 1998, he won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Besides, in 1999 awarded with Bharat Ratna (highest civilian award in India).
