- PM Modi launched a new Scheme for six states (Bihar, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha) named 'Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan' through video conferencing.
- Objective,
- The objective of this new scheme is to provide livelihood opportunities to migrant workers and will help in the development of rural areas by creating local infrastructure.
- Highlights,
- The campaign of 125 days will be implemented in a mission mode. It will involve intensified and focused implementation of 25 different types of works to provide employment to the migrant workers and create infrastructure in the rural regions of the country.
- A total of 116 Districts with more than 25,000 returnee migrant workers across six states have been chosen for the campaign which includes 27 Aspirational Districts.
- The new scheme shall provide employment opportunities who have migrated back, and are hopeful of finding skill-based jobs in MSME, small sector units, agricultural and telecom units.
