Due to COVID-19, Ramon Magsaysay Award Cancelled


  • Due to COVID-19, The 2020 Ramon Magsaysay Award has been Cancelled. It is the highest Honor of Asia and is regarded as Asia’s version of the Nobel Prize.
  • Ramon Magsaysay Award,
    - The Ramon Magsaysay Award is an annual award, that was established in April 1957 by the trustees of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund based in New York City with the concurrence of the Philippine government.
    - It is named after Ramon Magsaysay, the 3rd president of the Republic of the Philippines after World War II. The award is given to Asian individuals achieving excellence in their respective fields.
    - The Awards were given in six categories;
    1. Government Service
    2. Public Service
    3. Community Leadership
    4. Journalism, Literature, and the Creative Communication Arts
    5. Peace and International Understanding
    6. Emergent Leadership.
    - And, the first time it was Awarded in 1958. In 2019, Ravish Kumar was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in the category of 'Harnessing journalism to give voice to the voiceless'.
