Soil Scientist Rattan Lal won World Food Prize for 2020


  • Indian Soil scientist Rattan Lal won the prestigious World Food Prize (WFP) for 2020. The work of Rattan Lal is focused on the potential of soils to help resolve global issues such as climate change, food security, and water quality.
  • Prior to this, Rattan Lal was awarded the 2019 Japan Prize 'For sustainable soil management for global food security and mitigation of climate change'.
  • World Food Prize,
    - The World Food Prize is an international award, that was firstly awarded in 1987. It is a foundation, which is currently run by Barbara Stinson.
