Kritika Pandey won 2020 Commonwealth Short Story Prize for Asia Region


  • Noted Indian writer from Ranchi Kritika Pandey won the 2020 Commonwealth Short Story Prize for Asia Region. The 29-year-old Kritika won the prize for her story "The Great Indian Tee and Snakes". Prior to this, Kritika Pande had been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
  • List of Winners for the 2020 Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
    1. For African Region: Innocent Chizaram Ilo from Nigeria won the prize for his story When a Woman Renounces Motherhood.
    2. For Asia Region: Kritika Pandey from India won the prize for The Great Indian Tee and Snakes.
    3. For Canada and Europe Region: Reyah Martin from the UK won the prize for Wherever Mister Jensen Went.
    4. For Caribbean Region: Brian S Heap from Jamaica won the prize for Mafootoo.
    5. For Pacific Region: Andrea E Macleod from Australia won the prize for The Art of Waving.
  • Commonwealth Short Story Prize,
    - The Commonwealth Short Story Prize had started in 2012. This Prize is given for the best piece of unpublished short fiction from the Commonwealth. And, the prize is given to 5 regions namely Asia, Pacific, Africa, Canada & Europe, and the Caribbean.
    Prize Money,
    - Each awardee gets Rs 2,40,000/- and an overall winner from among them receives a total of Rs 4,72,000/-.
