- The 36th edition of the ASEAN Summit had held in Hanoi, Vietnam through video conferencing. The main objective of this Summit was on the COVID-19 epidemic response, post-pandemic recovery, and further cooperation with partners.

- The theme for the 2020 ASEAM Summit was "Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN".
- It was scheduled to be held in April 2020 at Da Nang, Vietnam. But, it was postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
