- The 19th Governor of RBI C. Rangarajan has been awarded Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to statistics on the occassion of National Statistics Day. Prior to this, He was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award in 2002, which is India's second-highest civilian award.
- He was a former Member of Parliament and 19th Governor of the RBI from 22nd December 1992 to 21st November 1997. And, he was the former Chairman of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council from August 2009 to 16th May 2014.
