National Girl Child Day celebrated on 24th January

The National Girl Child Day is celebrated on 24th January annually around the country. The theme for this year is 'Empowering Girls for a Brighter Tomorrow'.
On the occasion, The Women and Child Development Ministry organized an event in Delhi to observe the anniversary of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme.
The scheme "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in January 2015 at Panipat, Haryana.
The scheme is a comprehensive program to address the declining child sex ratio and related issues of empowerment of women.
