19th January: National Immunization Day

The National Immunization Day (NID) is observed every year on 19th January 2020 throughout the county to maintain the NO POLIO status.
On this occasion, A nationwide program to administer polio drops to children below 5 years is organized.
In India, the Pulse Polio Immunization program was launched in 1995.
The Vellore city of Tamil Nadu state became the first Indian city/ district to become 100% polio-free.
