- Former MP Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deo passed away in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar due to prolonged illness. He was 76 years.
- During his political career, Gopinath Gajapati represented the Berhampur constituency and was a member of the Congress party. He later joined BJP and moved to Biju Janata Dal in 2009.
