- On 26th February 2020, the Union Cabinet approved the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill 2020. This Bill will allow any "willing" woman to become a surrogate mother. But, It bans Commercial Surrogacy and allows altruistic surrogacy.
- According to this Bill, only Indian couples (both partners being of Indian origins) could opt for surrogacy in the country.
