- Noted American actor Kirk Douglas passed away at his home in Beverly Hills, California on 5th February. He was 103 years.
- He started his film career in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) with Barbara Stanwyck.
- In 1957, he had won the Best Actor award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival for The Vikings movie.
