- The 10th Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina (age 72 years) has inaugurated the National Ekushey Book Fair at the Bangla Academy Premises in Dhaka.
- Ekushey Book Fair is the biggest and longest book fair in Bangladesh. It is organized every year in February commemorating the martyrs of the language movement.
- Speaking on the occasion, PM Sheikh Hasina said that her government wants to popularise the art, culture, and literature of Bangladesh across the globe.
