  • Each year on 18th April the World Heritage Day is celebrated throughout the globe. This day is also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites.
  • Its Objective,
    The main objective of this day is to celebrate cultural heritage and encourage people to conserve our rich past. Besides, this day also promotes awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage of humanity, their vulnerability, and the efforts required for their protection and conservation.
  • Theme,
    The theme for the 2020 World Heritage Day is 'Shared Culture, Shared heritage, and Shared Responsibility'. And, last year's theme was 'Rural Landscapes'.
  • History,
    This day was proposed by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on 18th April 1982 and approved by the General Assembly of UNESCO in 1983.
