- Legendary Hindustani classical musician and writer Shanti Hiranand passed away on 10th April 2020 in Gurugram, Haryana. She was 87 years. She was also known as a ghazal singer.
- In spite of that, She was an Author and she had written a book 'Begum Akhtar: The Story of My Ammi', a biographical work on Begum Akhtar.
- In 2007, the Indian Government had awarded him with the Padma Shri for her contributions to Hindustani music.
- In 1947, she had started his singing career as a music performance was on All India Radio Lahore, Pakistan. And after that, she continued her music training in Lucknow (Capital of Uttar Pradesh), under the tutelage of Ustad Aijaz Hussain Khan (Rampur).
