- Each year on 11th April the National Safe Motherhood day is celebrated throughout the country. Around the World, India becomes the first nation to celebrates the National Safe Motherhood Day.
- Objective,
1. The main objective of celebrating this day is to raise awareness about the proper healthcare of women and maternity facilities.
2. And, the day also intention to spread awareness about healthcare facilities for women.
- History of National Safe Motherhood Day,
- This day had been started by the White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI), with the objective to provide healthcare services to women during pregnancy, childbirth.
- This day was firstly celebrated in 2003. The day also coincides with the Kasturba Gandhi Birth Anniversary.
- White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI):
- Formed in 1999.
- At present, the Executive Director of WRAI is Betsy McCallon.
