- The World Rabies Day is celebrated annually on 28th September around the world to raise awareness about rabies prevention and to highlight progress in defeating this horrifying disease.
- The theme for this year is 'Rabies: Share the message. Save a life'.
- The day provides a platform to improve awareness, engage communities and help endemic countries in building successful and sustainable rabies programs.
- The day also marks the death anniversary of French biologist 'Louis Pasteur', who developed the Rabies & Anthrax vaccine.
