- Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan (age 76 years) has been chosen for the prestigious Dada Sahab Phalke Award for the year 2018 for his outstanding contribution to the film industry.
- The award is conferred by the Government for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema. It consists of a Swarn Kamal and a cash prize of Rs 10,00,000.
- He first gained popularity in the early 1970s for films such as Zanjeer, Deewaar, and Sholay, and was dubbed India's "angry young man" for his on-screen roles in Bollywood.
