Legendary Amitabh Bachchan chosen for Dada Saheb Phalke Award


  • Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan (age 76 years) has been chosen for the prestigious Dada Sahab Phalke Award for the year 2018 for his outstanding contribution to the film industry.
  • The award is conferred by the Government for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema. It consists of a Swarn Kamal and a cash prize of Rs 10,00,000.
  • He first gained popularity in the early 1970s for films such as Zanjeer, Deewaar, and Sholay, and was dubbed India's "angry young man" for his on-screen roles in Bollywood.
  • List of Awards He was Received:
    i) In 1984: Padma Shri (India's fourth-highest civilian award)
    ii) In 2001: Padma Bhushan (India's third-highest civilian award)
    ii) In 2015: Padma Vibhushan (India's second-highest civilian award)
  • The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema and it was introduced in 1969 by the Indian Government to commemorate Dadasaheb Phalke's.
