- The famous Malayalam writer Sivaraman Cheriyanad died in Kerala. He was 78-years.
- As a writer, He was received various awards such as:-
i) In 1989, the National Teachers Award,
ii) In 1988, Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award,
iii) In 2009, A.P. Kalakkad Award.
- And In 1990-91, he received Kerala Sahithya Akademi scholarship for his study on the works of writer Parappuram.
