- The 10th Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina was conferred Dr. Kalam Smriti International Excellence Award 2019 in Dhaka. The award is given for her contribution to fostering cooperation between India and Bangladesh.
- The award citation lauded Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina (age 71 years) for her vision of a peaceful and prosperous South Asia, free of tension, conflicts, and terrorism.
- The award was introduced in 2015 and has been instituted in the memory of former 11th President of India (2002 to 2007) Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
- The award is given every year to honor statesmen or leaders who have shown excellence in respective fields to achieve the best for their countries.
- Prior to this, the Presidents of the Maldives, Ghana, and Mauritius received the award since its introduction in 2015.
