- International Literacy Day (ILD) is being celebrated every year on 8th September around the world. Its aim's to raise public awareness to eradicate illiteracy and create an environment in favor of adult education programs.
- The theme for this year is 'Literacy and Multilingualism'.
- On 26th October 1966, The 8th September was declared as International Literacy Day at the 14th session of UNESCO’s General Conference.
