- The 13th Chief Minister of Gujarat state Dilip Parikh died at the age of 82 in Ahmedabad following a prolonged illness.
- In 1990, He joined politics and served as the Vice President of the State Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party. And, from 28th October 1997 to 4th March 1998, he served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
