International Snow Leopard Day observed on 23rd October


  • The International or World Snow Leopard Day is observed every year on 23rd October around the globe. The objective of this day to raise awareness on protecting and preserving the rarest and endangered animals on the planet.
  • In India, there are 400 to 700 Snow Leopards are found in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, J&K, and Ladakh region.
  • On the occassion, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar expressed happiness that 2,967 tigers reside in India, which is 77% of the World's Tiger population.
