- The Appointments Committee of Cabinet led by the Central government has approved the appointment of various officers to multiple ministries and departments.
- Pankaj Kumar appointed as CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
- Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number that can be obtained voluntarily by residents of India, and it is based on their biometric and demographic data. Chairman of UIDAI - J. Satyanarayana.
In another appointment:
i) Braj Raj Sharma takes charge as the Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
ii) Tuhin Kanta Pandey appointed as the Secretary Department of Investment and Public Asset Management.
iii) Sanjeev Nandan Sahai becomes the new Power Secretary.
iv) Pramod Kumar Das appointed as the Secretary of Minority Affairs.
