A. K. Singh becomes new Director-General of NSG


  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Anup Kumar Singh as the new Director-General of the National Security Guard (NSG) up to 30th September 2020.
  • A. K. Singh is a Senior IPS officer of 1985-batch Gujarat cadre. He replaced Sudeep Lakhtakia, who had taken retirement in August 2019.
  • The National Security Guard (NSG) is a counter-terrorism unit under the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It was raised on 15th October 1984, following Operation Blue Star, Akshardham Temple attack, etc.
