- Renowned Bangladeshi painter Kalidas Karmakar passed away in Dhaka due to cardiac arrest at his residence. He was 73.
- In 2016, he was awarded Shilpakala Padak, Ekushey Padak (2018), and Sultan Gold Award (2015) by the Bangladesh Government for his contribution to fine arts.
