- According to the report of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), India has slipped to 102nd ranks (last year- 103rd) out of 117 countries on the Global Hunger Index 2019.
- India is ranked below many neighboring countries, such as
- China at 25th spot,
- Nepal at 73rd spot,
- Myanmar at 69th spot,
- Sri Lanka at 66th spot,
- Bangladesh at 88th spot, and
- Pakistan at 94th spot.
- IFPRI is an international agricultural research center founded in the 1970s to improve the understanding of national agricultural and food policies to promote the adoption of innovations in agricultural technology.
