Margaret & Bernardine Evaristo wins 2019 Man Booker Prize


  • Margaret Atwood (Canadian Poet) and Bernardine Evaristo (British Author) jointly won the 2019 Man Booker Prize.
  • Noted novelist Salman Rushdie (age 72 years) tragicomic 'Quichotte' was among the 6-books shortlisted for the prize.
  • The Man Booker Prize, is a literary prize awarded each year for the best original novel written in the English language and published in the United Kingdom.
  • According to the Booker rules, the prize must not be divided. But the Judges insisted they could not separate Margaret Atwood - 'The Testament' and 'Girl, Woman, Other' by Evaristo, who is the first black woman to win the prestigious award since its creation in 1969.
