- Indian boxer Manju Rani has won the Silver medal in the World Women's Boxing Championships, the tournament is held at Ulan-Ude, Russia.
- In final, Manju defeated the Ekaterina Paltceva (Russian Boxer) by 4 -1 in the 48kg category to win the title.
- The AIBA World Boxing Championships and the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships are biennial amateur boxing competitions organized by the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
- The first-ever championships were held in 1974 Havana, Cuba as a Men's only event and the first Women's championships were held in 2001.
