- The International Day of Older Persons is being celebrated on 1st October every year around the world. This day celebrates to raise awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse.
- The theme for this year is 'The Journey to Age Equality'.
- On 14th December 1990, The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted to establish 1st October as the International Day of Older Persons as recorded in Resolution 45/106.
