  • Amreshwar Pratap Sahi (age 60 years) appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. He replaced Vijaya Tahilramani who had resigned from his post.
  • Banwarilal Purohit- Governor of Tamil Nadu administered him the oath of office and Secrecy at Rajbhavan, Madras.
  • Prior to taking up this assignment, A. P. Sahi was the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
