- The 10th Chief Election Commissioner of India- T. N. Seshan passed away at his residence in Chennai on 10th November 2019. He was 86.
- He was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner on 12th December 1990 during the government of P. V. Narasimha Rao (Congress).
- In 1996, he was honored with the Ramon Magsaysay Award for government service.
- One of them was the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, which is a set of guidelines issued to regulate political parties and candidates prior to elections.
