- United Nations appoints Indian-Origin Anita Bhatia as its new Deputy Executive Director for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) for Resource Management, Sustainability, and Partnerships.
- She has done a BA in History from Calcutta University and done an MA in Political Science from Yale University and a Juris Doctor in Law from Georgetown University.
- Prior to this appointment, She had a reputed career at the World Bank Group, She was serving in various senior leadership and management positions, both at the headquarters and in the field.
