- Nobel prize winner-American Physicist Murray Gell-Mann (born on 15th Sept 1929 to 24th May 2019) who developed quark idea, passed away at 89.
- 50 years ago, Dr. Gell-Mann was awarded the Noble Prize, when he was 40 years old. Dr. suggesting the early recognition of the significance of his contribution to the field of science.
- Dr. Gell-Mann transformed physics by devising a method for sorting subatomic particles into simple groups of eight based on an electric charge, spin and other characteristics.
- He named his method the “Eightfold Way” after the Buddhist Eightfold Path to enlightenment.
