- World Turtle Day is observed on 23rd May each year around the world. It was started by American Tortoise Rescue since 2000.
- Its main objective to bring attention and increase knowledge of and respect for, turtles and tortoises, and encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.
- World Turtle Day is celebrated throughout the world in a variety of ways.
