Rabindranath Tagore-158th Birth Anniversary being celebrated on 9th May all over West Bengal state.
Various programmes have been organized to pay respect to Gurudev Tagore. The day began with musical soirees, probhat ferry, and garlanding statues and portraits of Tagore.
The West Bengal Government has organized a special musical programme in Kolkata this afternoon to pay tributes to Gurudev Tagore. The day is also being observed in Santiniketan.

Tagore remains one of the country's foremost cultural icons. He called upon people to draw inspiration from Gurudev's genius and creativity.
Tagore was the Author of the "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse" of Gitanjali, he became in 1913 the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
