- The International Firefighters Day is observed around the world on 4th May to honor those firemen who put their lives at risk to save millions of people every year.
- It was instituted after a proposal was emailed out across the world on 4th January 1999 due to the deaths of five firefighters in tragic circumstances in a bushfire in Australia.
- The main purpose to celebrate this day is to thank firefighters and the services they all provide.
