- Both houses of Parliament (Lok & Rajya Sabha) has passed the Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill 2019.
- Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that the small amendment can have a large impact on investments and employment generation.
- He said the amendment will help in bringing International Financial Services Centres to the country. Mr. Goyal assured that these centers will not affect the domestic market rather create enormous job opportunities.
- He said, through SEZs over 5,00,000 Crore investments, 20,00,000 employment and over 7,00,000 Crore exports have taken place.
