- Veteran Freedom fighter Mohan Ranade passed away early morning today in Pune, Maharashtra. He was 90-years.
- He was participated in Goa’s liberation movement, and was arrested by Portuguese Police in 1955 and was imprisoned in Caxias Fort. He was kept in solitary confinement for 6-years.
- In 2001, he was awarded Padmashri and in 2006 and awarded Sangli Bhushan.
- In 1986, Mohan Ranade awarded Goa Puraskar for social work. He also wrote a book on the Goa liberation movement.
