Former General M.O. Ghazouani elected as the new President of Mauritania


  • Former General Mohamed Ould Ghazouani (age 62 years) has won the presidential election with 52% and elected as the new President of Mauritania.
  • Earlier, Ghazouani has been Mauritania Defence Minister from November 2018 to March 2019.
  • Ghazouani is a Mauritanian former general director of National Security and former chief of Army Staff (since 2008–2018).
