17th June: World Day to Combat Desertification

The "World Day to Combat Desertification" is observed globally on 17th June every year to promote public awareness relating to international cooperation to combat desertification.
The theme for this year is "Let’s Grow the Future Together".
In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared 17th June as the "World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought" to promote public awareness of the issue.
