- Retd. Indian Army Lt. General Jack Farj Rafael Jacob passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 92 years.
- Jacob was best known for the role he played in the creation of Bangladesh in the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.
- During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Indian Army's Eastern Command.
